Job Description

The candidate will work closely with our senior management and lead scientists in the area of drug target discovery, with focus in oncology and immuno-oncology.  They will plan and execute critical experiments, including in partnership with service companies and pharma partners. The successful candidate will bring cutting-edge, hands-on industry or equivalent academic expertise in immuno-oncology, including use of T cells and other human immune cell populations. The candidate will have demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects with external collaborators.

Responsibilites

  • Hands-on molecular and cell biology in support of genetic screening, experimental design, resource planning, execution, and data analysis.

  • Characterization of new targets and work with bioinformaticians to investigate gene networks involved in immune cell functioning.

  • Design studies to validate novel targets using in vitro CRISPR-Cas screens in mammalian cells.

  • Bring capability of transcriptomics efforts- establishing both bulk and single cell RNA-seq technologies and data analysis platform.

  • Work collaboratively with the Engine teams in Asia and US.

  • Involved in collaborations with external partners, including academic labs.

  • Writing scientific work plans and project proposals and managing budgets, timelines, communications, and priorities.

  • Contribute to scientific strategy and planning as necessary.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. with 3+ years of relevant work experience in cell biology / molecular biology / genomics. In depth understanding of immune-oncology.

  • Proven track record in planning and execution of genomic screens, e.g. CRISPR-Cas, RNAi, and use of functional genomics data for therapeutic target identification.

  • Strong experimental molecular and cell biology techniques, such as mammalian tissue culture.

  • Preferred experience in developing successful collaborations and relationships with academic and/or industrial partners and KoLs.

  • Excellence and rigor in data interpretation skills, demonstrated by a successful track record in overseeing projects.

  • Cross-functional team experience, including experience working with global teams is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills – verbal, written, and presentations.

  • Experience mentoring junior scientists and research associates.

  • 1-3 years of pharma R&D experience is preferred.

  • Strong peer-reviewed publication record

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of project information.

  • Willingness to mentor junior scientists and research associates.
